What to Know
The DSM-5 is currently where clinical criteria for diagnosing Autism/Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
At Behavioral Focus, LLC we provide comprehensive psychological evaluations to guide and support families in the process of determining if their child’s behaviors meet the clinical significance level of ASD and/or other psychological/developmental challenges.
Signs & Symptoms
Has your pediatrician or other medical/educational professional conducted any type of screening with your child? There are many sites online that have ASD characteristics. If the signs and symptoms on these quick screening questions “match” behaviors your child exhibits on a routine basis, an evaluation may be warranted.

Referral
Having a referral from your child’s pediatrician is something most all insurance companies will require. In addition, having your pediatrician involved in this process is recommended if at all possible.
Our Approach
We take a comprehensive & holistic approach to evaluation, focusing on the all key environments in your child’s life. The first step is to complete our quick client intake so we have more information on how we can help. This also gives us your consent to check your insurance. We do this to ensure we are in-network with your insurance and the services are covered.
Clinical Interview
After Intake
After we receive your intake form submission, we will reach out and try to contact with you within 48 hours. This phone call will function as an introduction call to explain in detail our process, information on our status with your insurance policy, and put an action plan in place to obtain all documentation required for an authorization for evaluation services.
Clinical Interview
After receiving all needed documentation, we will contact you to schedule a clinical interview. This interview is to determine which evaluation is appropriate for your child. We want to ensure that all of your concerns are heard. If you would like to complete our paperwork ahead of time, please feel free to download one of our fillable documents below and email or fax it back to us!
Evaluation Time
Once we have completed the clinical interview, addressed all of your questions and concerns, and obtained an approved authorization, it’s time to schedule the evaluation. Evaluations are conducted at our Abilene or Lubbock location and take about 60 to 90 minutes.
